Working my way through a big stock drop and this might be my favorite in the pile. Gorgeous antique long guard station chain. This one is over 67 inches in length of antique gold chain (over 5 1/2 feet long! It's taller than me!) set with eight garnets.
Fabulous and versatile piece to wear layered, alone, long and doubled or wrapped multiple times to a shorter length. You can check the length to even see if it could work wrapped a bunch of times as a bracelet. See my website for additional styling photos as I can add a lot more pics there. I've also been seeing these worn as body chains by the young socialites and influencers of the world : ). It has a clasp on one end which allows for easier styling so it's fun to play with in a neckmess because it can be worn so many different ways. You can clasp it to itself as well to create a double chain for wrapping.
Found in France, this special antique station chain is crafted in 14k gold with their symbol hallmark and tested, it features a braided link and is set with intermittent garnets. They have the most wonderful coloring - a berry pinkish purple. It's just lovely. The stones are set in bezels that allow the pavilions to crop out the back so the stones can swivel and rotate while wearing with a 3D view of the entire stone. When you look through the stones they have star faceting like looking into a kaleidoscope: )
Props and additional items not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 22.4 grams. It is the longest chain I've had at 67 inches / over 5 1/2 feet long. Each of the garnets is about 7mm in diameter and 4mm deep. The braided chain gauge is about 1.7mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No notable damage to the chain, it's beautiful with a rich antique patina that is warm but still glowing. The stones each have some nicks and nibbles, either to the crown facets or to the pointed tip of the pavilions (culets). They still have very nice sheen and polish and a gorgeous color that can even emit sparkle but there are signs of wear due to the way the stones crop out of the bezels.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and flow, but it appears darker in color with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
